The taste of Manuka

Soft and creamy, closest to a rich buttered caramel — eaten straight from the jar.

Caramel
Rich and toasted — the first note on the first spoon.
Floral
Light and refreshing — a delicate sweetness from the manuka blossom itself.
Creamy
Thick and smooth, coating the spoon — it never runs.
The deep finish
A layered, complex ending — the mark of high-concentration Manuka.

Licensed by the UMF association — verify it yourself

The UMF™ mark cannot be printed on a jar without a licence from the UMF Honey Association in New Zealand. The 3 Beez is listed in the association's official register, and the licence itself is printed on every label — don't take our word for it: open the register and look us up.

Why is genuine Manuka rare?

  1. It grows in one country

The manuka tree grows wild only in New Zealand, and its finest forests are in remote areas that are hard to reach in the first place.

  2. A very short season

The manuka blossom opens for a few weeks a year. If rain or wind spoils that season, there is no making it up until the following year.

  3. The bees choose for themselves

No one forces bees onto a particular blossom. A high-concentration batch means the bees spent most of their season on manuka — and that can never be guaranteed in advance.

  4. The high grades are the exception

Only a small share of each season's crop reaches grades like 20+ and above; the rest is classed in the lower grades. That is why the price climbs with the number.

  5. It cannot be faked

Manuka honey carries natural markers that the independent laboratory measures directly, so any blending or imitation is exposed in testing before it ever reaches you.

The grade ladder — choose your number

The UMF™ grade is measured by the natural quality markers in Manuka honey, and MGO measures the concentration of its signature compound. The higher the two numbers climb, the higher the concentration — and the smaller the share of each season that reaches it. The number on every jar is backed by an independent lab certificate.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Manuka honey special?

It comes solely from the nectar of New Zealand's manuka tree, and carries natural compounds at a concentration that is measured and documented — which is why it is sold in numbered grades, each with its own certificate.

What do UMF and MGO mean?

UMF is a grading system based on several quality markers measured by an independent laboratory, and MGO is a direct measurement of the concentration of Manuka's signature compound. The two numbers rise together: grade 5+ corresponds to MGO 83+, and grade 25+ corresponds to MGO 1200+.

Why is it expensive?

One source in the world, a short blossom season, high grades that only a small share of the crop ever reaches, and independent testing for every batch. The price is the cost of documented rarity.

How do I make sure my jar is genuine?

In two ways that don't rely on our word: look up The 3 Beez in the official UMF association register at umf.org.nz (licence 2986), and scan the QR code printed on your jar to open its batch certificate.

How is it eaten?

A teaspoon straight from the jar, or in a warm drink — never boiling, so the honey keeps its raw nature — or with yoghurt and breakfast.

Does it suit everyone?

Like any natural honey, it is not given to anyone under one year of age, and it is kept somewhere below 25 degrees Celsius.
